Playa El Calon is in the province of Costa Almeria, Andalucia on the South-East coast of Spain.
This is one of the hottest areas in Spain and enjoys high temperatures during the long sunny summer season and mild winters.
Playa El Calon is located off of the coastal road midway between the two large Playa resorts of Mojacar and Aguillas, approx 20 mins each way. It has a natural, undeveloped beach which is ideal for quiet relaxation as it is still a bit of a secret with the Spanish locals. A nice secluded spot can always be found.
Closer to the apartment are the smaller resorts of San Juan de los Terreros and Villaricos, approx 5 mins and 8 mins respectively. The inland large pueblo of Vera and Vera Playa are also close by.
Closest airports are Almeria & Murcia both approx 1 hour drive, serviced by budget airlines RyanAir, Easyjet and Monarch. A little further away we have Alicante and Granada, approx 2.5 hours drive. Almeria flights should probably be your first choice as there are no tolls on the motorway.
Car hire is essential when visiting this area as public transport is very limited and there are many interesting places to visit. There are good motorway links to this region from all directions. The newly built motorway from Murcia airport is a toll road with little traffic and worth the cost
