Area information:	Comares was one of the important hilltop forts for the Moors before being conquered by the Christians in 1487. It can be seen from miles around and has spectacular views in all directions. The many fiestas are great fun for adults as well as children. Local activities include swimming in the private pool and sunbathing. Enjoy a tapas with a drink in one of the local bars. Follow the ceramic footprints around the winding streets of the village, or if you are more energetic you can follow one of the longer colour coded walks. Horse and cycle riding are available locally and there is wildlife in the form of birds of prey, geckos, green lizards, orioles, warblers, redstarts, bee-eaters, hoopoes and grey foxes. Each season has its own fantastic collection of wild flowers. This is an artist�s paradise. Further afield there are the sandy beaches and promenade at Torre del Mar. Nerja with its caves and beaches is about an hour away. 40 minutes takes you to Velez Malaga with a multiscreen cinema, shopping centre, aqua park and large supermarket. Malaga, with all its culture and history, is only an hour away and Granada, Ronda, Seville and Cordoba are all within easy striking distance. They all are very worthwhile visiting, whether on this holiday or spread over a number of stays. There are numerous golf courses and skiing is excellent (in season) in the Sierra Nevada. When eating out, the lunch �menu del dia� offers excellent choice and value.
